Easter weekend is over. Wow! Our subject was the The Real Crucifixion." We covered the last 9 hours of Christ's suffering from Mark 15:1-39.
What to say…what to say?
- Unnecessary Pain — I know this is a big tradition and big honor…crucifying themselves…but…
Crucifixion Explained — FYI, the two quotes I used from Lee Strobel's book The Case for Christ are on p.261 (scourging) and pp.263-269 (crucifixion).
- Crucifixion Analyzed — Here's a website that gives you more detail info & charts on the suffering of the crucifixion. It gave me pause…thinking about the AMAZING, UNCONDITIONAL, ENDLESS LOVE…of our God to us.
Easter Video
— We showed the Video The Last Painting to set the stage during the message. For those of you who didn't realize it, it's a painting of Jesus' bloodied face, looking down & to our left.- Final Stats
— What a fantastic weekend. People invited their friends and family
like crazy and we ended up having over 2200 people in the 4 services!
We had 5-10 people profess Christ in each service, which means 20-30
people professed Christ! (Awesome.) A few people came up afterward and
told me they received Christ. But I don't have the final stats yet on
how many wrote their names down. - Final Song — Here's something wild. Several hours after the service, I couldn't get our final song out of my mind. It was "Our God" by Chris Tomlin. (Side Note: I thought our choir ROCKED for the whole day. Loved it.) Anyway, I mentioned the song to my family, and my son said, "I can't get that song out of my mind too!" 🙂
