I recently finished reading "The Lemon Tree: An Arab, a Jew, and the Heart of the Middle East."
The book tells the true story of two people…two families…who lived in the same house in Ramla — a Palestinian named Bashir, whose father originally built the home and planted the lemon tree in the back yard, & a Jew named Dalia, whose family moved into the home after Bashir’s family fled.
The book shed so much insight on the history, complexity, emotions, and difficulty of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. As someone who is friends with both Jews & Palestinians, it really opened up my eyes. Very helpful book.
P.S. Here is a modern picture of Dalia & Bashir.
