So here is question we talked about in my Grace Group last night. It comes from a question I had years ago, when I read through the book of Ephesians.
Specifically, I was comparing what Paul was praying for while he sat in jail versus what I might pray ("Pray that I might get out of jail ASAP."). Not once does Paul ask that people pray he gets out of jail. So what does he pray for?
I also taught my Grace Group a way of using the Bible as your prayer list.

Q&A with Pastor Tim Part 52 on why our prayers are so different than those in the Bible from Grace Church on Vimeo.
Wow. So true. This has been chewing at me lately in my time with God. Sometimes I wonder if it’s possible the more specific and voluminous our prayers for ourselves and others become, it may actually be a reflection of our lack of trust in Him. And are we praying and begging for blessings already in store? Like you reference here, Are we even praying for what really matters to God?
