Last weekend, we talked about the tensions we all feel in busyness vs. balance. We looked at the story of Mary & Martha in Luke 10:38-42. We talked about the futility of looking to achieve "life balance", a time metaphor that often frustrating and unachievable. Instead we considered the paradigm of looking to establish "healthy rhythms & seasons" in our lives.
Bob sent a follow-up question:
"Loved the lesson today. Gotta ask…you said the Sabbath and Saturday in the same sentence. I grew up with the belief that the Sabbath is Saturday and not Sunday. Do you battle this same battle?"
Here are the verses I referred to in my answer:
- Sabbath & Saturday — Exo 20:8-11
- Sabbath & Sunday — Lk 24:1, Jn 20:1, 1Co 16:2
- Sabbath & the Cross — Col 2:14-17, Heb 3-4
- Sabbath & Rest — Mk 6:31, Mk 6:46, Lk 6:1
