Here’s the follow-up talk I just gave to Easter 2017 at Grace. We called Psalm 22 The Cross Didn’t Make Sense:
Dr. Charles Foster wrote the book Being a Beast about his experiences as a badger, otter, fox, stag, and swife. Here’s the rest of the story. Dr. Charles Foster gave his life to Jesus. Here is both the short version and longer interviews. Enjoy!
In regard to discovering new things when going through the story of the Cross, something jumped out at me today when reading Matthew 27. Verse 52 and 53 speak about people rising out of the grave and going into Jerusalem where they were seen by many when Jesus died (in addition to the veil being torn in two and earthquakes). Why does it seem like this portion of the story often gets bypassed? This seems incredible, yet rarely is mentioned.
Hi Thomas. It is a pretty wild account. Good question on why it’s not mentioned very often by people. (We actually covered that story in our Wednesday April 19 Q&A Bible Study at our Grace Overland Park Campus this week.)
Probably it’s not covered often because (a) it’s mentioned in only one of the four gospels and (b) it’s strange… like “Walking Dead” strange.
It’s interesting the text says “many” but keeps it an unknown amount. These were likely recently dead people too because Jews in the first century would bury people the day they died, then have a 2nd funeral one year later to collect the bones of the decomposed body and deposit them in a box or ossuary.
