7 days. 7 examples. Trying to read the Bible in a fresh way by identifying the 3 Applications of Scripture.
Example #5 is Matthew 7:1-6 requested by Jason. Read it, then check out my examples:
- Historical — "Matthew records Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, in which Jesus describes God’s hatred of hypocrisy…of judging others more harshly (or before) you judge yourself."
- Doctrinal — "This teaches me about Jesus, in that He had no ‘plank’ nor ‘speck’ in His eye (i.e. He was sinless) and therefore has every right to be the final Judge of humanity someday."
- Inspirational — "God forbid that I ever live as a hypocrite, turning a blind eye to my own huge failings/sins while becoming a petty nitpicker of people in smaller, less critical areas…help me to see clearly to help set other free."
Also try reading Deuteronomy 22:8-12 for tomorrow…a very strange hodgepodge of commands.
